What is the instructor program?

The ATA Trainee Instructor Program was devised in order to allow adult students to prepare for the Certified Trainee Instructor Program.

How does this help me?

The additional responsibilities and challenges of the program increase each student’s self esteem and pride in their school. The leadership skills learned, are great assets in the working world and will have a great impact on you and your co-workers.

Do I have to be a Black Belt?

No. The original program was geared at only Black Belts, but the years of training to become a certified instructor prohibited some students from achieving their goals on time. Anyone in the Black Belt program can enroll in the Leadership Program.

What’s included in the program?

All Basic and Black Belt Club Program benefits.

A weekly leadership class given by a senior instructor. Most classes are taught by the Senior Chief Instructor.

Classes include philosophy, development of leadership skills, Black Belt life skills, marketing, instruction, history, curriculum and physical development.

Eligible to wear heavy weight competition uniform with red collar and name.

Eligibility to earn points for the title of STATE CHAMPION

ATA awards and certificates for each level completed

Instructor Manual, which covers all required material and tests for the trainee instructor program.

Eligibility to attend training seminars to become a Certified Trainee Instructor

Eligibility to attend additional training seminars to become a Certified Instructor in the ATA

How much does it cost?

The basic program cost is $545 down and monthly payments of $175 for 36 months.

What are the other program costs?

Several seminars are offered to each instructor in their quest to become a certified instructor with the ATA. There are three seminars which are required, in addition to the Trainee Instructor Program. The first of these seminars is taught, here at the school, by Mr Matthews, Sr. Graduation from these seminars, plus the three hundred teaching hours, will make you eligible for your red/black collar. Each of these seminars cost is based on your collar and need and include all books and appropriate ATA registration fees.

How long will this take?

Each individual is different and the time one can devote to the program is the only limitation. Most students can complete the initial portions of the program within two years and be ready to complete the necessary requirements for Certified Trainee Instructor.

What are the levels of instructors?

There are many different levels of instructorship. The first level is, of course, the red collar level. This means you are able to assist the instructors in class. The next level is the Certified Trainee Instructor, which is signified by the red/black collar. The next level is the Specialty Trainee Instructor, which is signified by the black/red/black collar. The final level of certification is full Black Collar.

Additional details concerning the levels and training will be taught in your Leadership classes.
