Our Tiny Tiger Program is designed to introduce young children (ages 3 to 6) to the art of Taekwondo. It will take a Tiny Tiger student approximately 18 months to complete the Tiny Tiger Program (white belt - black belt). There is a mass of knowledge to be learned in Songahm Taekwondo. Therefore, Tiny Tigers begin by learning 1/2 of the material. After completing the Tiny Tiger Program the Tiny Tiger Black Belt will start attending the Karate for Kids (ages 6 to 12) white belt classes, in order to learn the remaining material for every belt level. Depending on the age, maturity, and physical skill of each Tiny Tiger, Mrs. Matthews may decided to advance them into the Karate for Kids white belt class before completing the entire Tiny Tiger Program.

This dynamic program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as:
Courtesy
Respect
Self Discipline

Goals
In addition, the program is designed to:
Improve children's motor skills
Enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions
Develop self esteem and self confidence

Monthly Life Skills and Value System
All classes are taught using the most safe, fun and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and life skills.  Tiny Tigers even have their very own student oath.

Victory Patch
Tiny Tigers have their own unique Victory Patch and "Victory Stars." Stars are earned in the same way as the Karate for Kids program, with slight modifications in recognition of the preschool age of the child.   Students receive daily report cards, in class which parents can also share their own comments about the good deeds their children do.

Tiger Curriculum and Belt System
Just like in the Karate for Kids program, Tiny Tigers curriculum allows students to test for their belts and work toward their black belt.  Tigers test at the same rate as the regular Karate Kids, but test on different materials and standards.  The material is taught in smaller increments, compared to the Karate Kids program, but all students eventually learn the same material and physical skills.
